INDIA RELIES ON IT. BUT CAN PEOPLE ACTUALLY USE IT EASILY?

With 50M+ downloads, 7 lakh+ Google Play reviews, and ratings of just 3.3★ on Android and 2.2★ on iOS, mParivahan presents a striking gap between reach and satisfaction. This case study investigates what lies behind it—and whether NextGen mParivahan is truly built for the next generation.

THE EXAM IS ACCESSIBLE. IS THE JOURNEY TO IT?

Indian competitive examinations provide various provisions and accommodations for candidates with disabilities, but inclusivity often becomes an afterthought when it comes to the application process. This case study explores whether candidates can independently navigate the digital journey to access these provisions—from discovering relevant information and understanding eligibility to registering, requesting accommodations, and completing the application.

Dinely

What started as a fun, quirky idea has evolved into something with real product potential.

As I developed Dinely, I began exploring whether the concept could work as a viable product beyond the initial idea. I’m currently investigating its business and revenue model, restaurant-side opportunities, and the ecosystem required to make the product sustainable.

On the UX side, the user app is currently undergoing user testing, with insights from testing being used to further refine the experience.

NextGen mParivahan

I started this project as part of my Interface Design course this semester after noticing something that made mParivahan different from a typical app: for many Indians, there isn’t really an alternative. When a digital service is this essential, I felt simply redesigning the interface wasn’t enough—I wanted to understand what was actually making the experience difficult and try to solve those problems through design.

The project has now grown into a deeper UX investigation, looking at the gap between mParivahan’s massive reach and user satisfaction through secondary research, app-store reviews, and interface evaluation. I’m currently moving into primary research and usability testing to validate the problems before defining the redesign.

If you find this project interesting or have thoughts, insights, or experience that could help shape the research, feel free to reach out—I’d love to hear from you.

Accessibility in Exams

I started this project with a simple question: Indian competitive examinations provide provisions for candidates with disabilities—but how accessible is the process of applying for them?

As part of my Inclusive Design course, I’m exploring the gap between accessibility provisions and the actual application experience. While accommodations such as scribes, extra time, and other considerations may be available at the examination stage, the digital journey to access these provisions can involve its own barriers. I’m currently researching how candidates discover information, understand eligibility, complete applications, and request accommodations, with the aim of identifying where the application experience falls short of being truly inclusive.

This is an ongoing research project, and I’m currently working through the research and evaluation stage before moving towards potential design interventions.

If you have experience navigating competitive examination applications, accessibility provisions, or inclusive digital services, feel free to reach out. Your perspective could help shape this research.
